Mark Paul Broderick


August 9th, 1945 – February 27th, 2024


Mark Broderick was born in Clarinda, Iowa to John "James” and Inez (Lyons) Broderick on August 9th, 1945. He was one of five children including Gregory, James "Pat”, Jeanie and Katherine. Mark married Catherine (Carr) Broderick on November 9th, 1978, in San Francisco, CA. They had three children Anna (Robin), Kathleen, Thomas (Danielle) and five grandchildren Bridget, Catherine "Liz”, Christopher, Daniel and Colin.


Mark graduated from Creighton Preparatory School; was an alumnus of Creighton University, Creighton Law and the University of San Francisco.


Mark was a Vietnam combat veteran of the United States Army and received the Bronze Star with Oak Leaf Cluster. He worked in the United States House of Representatives and the San Francisco Public Defender Office. He was a member of the Sheet Metal Workers Local 100 and worked for the Architect of the Capitol.


Mark was the Vice Commander of the VFW Post 2562 in Wheaton, MD. He was a member of St. Johns the Evangelist Parish in Silver Spring, MD.


Visitation will be held at Francis J. Collins Funeral Home, 500 University Blvd West, Silver Spring, MD on Thursday, March 7 from 2 to 4 pm. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. John the Evangelist, 10103 Georgia Ave, Silver Spring, MD on Friday, March 8 at 11 am. Interment Private.
